Here's another WIP of the sunken ship image. I blocked in the mer-kids, but I'm not sure about the composition. Before anyone says anything about the bright colors - I know, they're not at all realistic, but this image is supposed to be for children, and I want to use these really eye-popping colors. Also, it has to match this image, which has already been printed on canvas.
What else...? Oh, I haven't added lantern light to the ship or anything yet. So, composition suggestions? ~~~Commission Info!~~~ Comments
Wow. I'm such a newb. I just realized after all this time that yes, this ship is under water. *smacks herself*
I like the idea of mer-kids discovering some place new. Maybe you can have an over the shoulder view from one kid (on the left corner maybe to lead the eye towards the ship?) that you put in the foreground so it makes the picture more intimate for the kids viewing it at the dentist's office and some other merkids farther off looking back as if they were in front of the viewer and the viewer is behind the shoulder of that kid. The kids farther off are looking back to the viewer or some of them anyway, pointing and all like "Ooh yay that looks fun." Haha I love how I'm trying to describe something with dialogue XD (And then it's like woosh and then it's like weeh haha etc.) And I like the bright colors! Maybe some bright coral and small fishes on the ground level will bring more of that fun colorful feel that you're looking for as well. Looks great so far! Can't wait 'till the end result. Haha, good point.

The whimsical nature of the mer-children really brings out the style that you are portraying the whole series. But once again, it's the background that detracts form the scene, (and once again I think it's because of lack of light that makes it so dreary.
