Goldfish study for that upcoming project. I've been getting a lot of people saying lately that I should use more opaque brush strokes, so I found a conte brush in Painter that is very opaque, and went at it. It was more fun than I had anticipated. That damn tail gave me a lot of trouble though...
Oh, and thanks again to everyone who has been critiquing me on this project!
Ohhh, i was going to talk about the nice hard strokes in this. Looks lovely. One thing I would watch is the edges and the form. The values used on the edges dont seem to be defining the form well. The only thing thats telling me that the fish is 3d in that space is the high highlights on the scales. I think what would help with that too would be the direction of the strokes at the top and the bottom. Treat the fish as a contour drawing, where you follow all of its curves with the strokes you put down. By the way, I would soften some edges too, like the tail and the fins, just to really show the difference in density....ummmmm....o.o
Um... I wonder if that made sense? I confused myself....

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
